Mia le Roux is a South African beauty pageant who was crowned Miss South Africa 2024 and will represent her country at Miss Universe 2024 and will be the first woman with a physical disability on the Miss Universe stage. Le Roux was diagnosed with severe hearing loss when she was one year old, leading to her receiving a cochlear implant to help her hear.

Mia Le Roux was born on 28 June 1995 in Sasolburg, Free State, South Africa, and her age is 29 years old as of 2024. Her nickname is Miatjie. Mia belongs to the Black ethnicity and she holds South African nationality. ²

Mia attended Oudtshoorn High School and later earned a nutrition certificate from the Sport Science Institute of South Africa and an exercise specialist diploma from Eta College. She is also studying for a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Marketing part-time.

Le Roux works as a marketing manager and models simultaneously and she is pursuing her marketing studies at the University of South Africa. ³

Le Roux won Miss South Africa 2024, held at the SunBet Arena, Menlyn and she competed against nine other contestants. She had been previously announced as one of the 30 semifinalists in May 2024. The finale was held on 10 August, where she was declared as the winner.

I decided to enter Miss South Africa 2024 as I have noticed the title holders have made incredible progress in terms of inclusivity and redefining what beauty means. As a deaf woman with a cochlear implant, I represent a community that often goes unheard. I am here to prove that, despite being differently-abled, it has not affected me in terms of what I am capable of. My journey is a testament to the power of dreams and determination we all possess. ⁴
