Shelby McEwen Career Journey
Shelby’s athletic journey began at Northwest Mississippi Community College, where he was part of the basketball team and also competed in track and field as an unattached athlete from 2015 to 2017. Then, McEwen transferred to the University of Alabama, where he competed for the Alabama Crimson Tide during the 2018 and 2019 indoor and outdoor track seasons.
In 2019, McEwen achieved significant milestones by clearing 2.31 meters indoors and 2.30 meters outdoors. His performance at the 2019 USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships, where he finished second, secured his qualification for the World Championships in Doha.
On May 22, 2021, McEwen reached a personal best of 2.33 meters at Roy P. Drachman Stadium in Tucson, Arizona, meeting the qualifying standard for the 2020 Summer Olympics.
