Hamish Kerr is a New Zealand high jumper who won the gold medal in the men’s high jump at the 2024 Summer Olympics. At the World Indoor Championships, he won gold in 2024 and a bronze in 2022. He also won gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Kerr is the co-holder of the Oceanian record holder and sole holder of the Oceanian indoor record.

In June 2019, Kerr matched the national record by clearing 2.30 meters, earning the gold medal at the Oceania Athletics Championships in Townsville. The following month, he competed at the Universiade in Naples, Italy, and later participated in the World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar, in October.

In February 2021, Kerr set a new national record by clearing 2.31 meters at Newtown Park Stadium in Wellington. Later that year, at the rescheduled 2020 Tokyo Olympics, he placed 10th in the men’s high jump final with a clearance of 2.30 meters.

Kerr continued his success in March 2022 at the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, where he broke a 39-year-old New Zealand indoor record previously held by Roger Te Puni, with a jump of 2.31 meters, earning a bronze medal tied with Gianmarco Tamberi. In June of the same year, he won the Oceania Athletics Championships with a jump of 2.24 meters. In August, he secured the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham with a jump of 2.25 meters.

In February 2023, Kerr set a new Oceanian indoor record at the Banskobystricka latka in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, with a personal best clearance of 2.34 meters, surpassing Tim Forsyth’s 1997 record.
