Satwiksairaj Rankireddy is an Indian badminton player. Along with his partner, Chirag Shetty, he is the only Indian doubles player to reach World No. 1 in the BWF World Ranking, win a BWF World Tour 1000 series, and win a gold medal in badminton at the Asian Games. They are also the fifth men’s doubles pair in history to achieve 100,000 points in the BWF ranking. Rankireddy set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest smash in badminton with a speed of 565 km/h.

Satwiksairaj started playing badminton after following in the footsteps of his father, a state-level player in the past, and his elder brother. In 2014, he joined the Pullela Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad and decided to become a doubles specialist.

In 2018, Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty helped India win a historic gold medal in the Mixed Team event at the Commonwealth Games and earned a silver in men’s doubles. They won their first BWF World Tour title at the Hyderabad Open.

In 2019, they became the first Indian doubles pair to win a BWF Superseries or World Tour title by claiming the Thailand Open. They also finished as runners-up at the French Open. In 2021, they competed in the 2020 Olympics but were eliminated in the group stage. They also qualified for the BWF World Tour Finals but withdrew after their first match.

In 2022, Rankireddy and Shetty won the India Open and were part of India’s Thomas Cup-winning team. They secured the men’s doubles gold at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games and a bronze at the BWF World Championships. They also won their first BWF World Super 750 title at the French Open.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest badminton smash by a male player, reaching 565 km/h. The previous record of 493 km/h was held by Malaysia’s Tan Boon Heong in May 2013.
