Rory McIlroy is a professional Northern Ireland golfer who plays on the European and PGA tours. He was once ranked the number one golfer globally and held that spot for over 100 weeks. He has won four major golf tournaments: the U.S. Open in 2011, the PGA Championship in 2012 and 2014, and The Open Championship in 2014.

McIlroy won his first European Tour event in 2009 and his first PGA Tour event in 2010. By age 22, he became the youngest player to earn €10 million on the European Tour, and by 2012, the youngest to earn $10 million on the PGA Tour. In 2022, he became the first golfer to win the FedEx Cup three times. He also won The Players Championship in 2019 and again in 2025. McIlroy has played for Europe in the Ryder Cup from 2010 to 2023 and also represented Ireland and Great Britain & Ireland in other events.
