Manu Bhaker is an Indian Olympic shooter who won two bronze medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She earned the first medal in the women’s 10-meter air pistol event and became the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal. Manu Bhaker Career
With her father’s investment of ₹1,50,000, Bhaker started competitive shooting. She first succeeded internationally by winning a silver medal at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships. At the 2017 National Games in Kerala, she won nine gold medals and broke Heena Sidhu’s record by scoring 242.3 points.
In 2018, Bhaker won gold in the Women’s 10-meter air pistol at the ISSF World Cup in Mexico, which made her the youngest Indian to win a gold medal at the World Cup. She also won gold in the 10-meter Air Pistol mixed team event with Om Prakash Mitharval.
At the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Manu Bhaker won gold in the finals and set a new record of 240.9 points. At the 2018 Asian Games, she set a record score in the 25m Air Pistol qualification but finished 6th in the final.
Bhaker won gold in the 10m air pistol at the 2018 Youth Olympics and became the first Indian shooter and female athlete to win a gold at the Youth Olympic Games. She won gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the 2019 ISSF World Cup in Delhi and qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 10m pistol event.
In 2019, Manu won gold in the 10m air pistol mixed event with Saurabh Chaudhry at all four ISSF World Cups.
