On August 3, 2017, the Miami Dolphins’ quarterback Ryan Tannehill suffered an injury. The team reached out to Jay who had retired, and on August 7, Cutler signed a one-year, $10 million contract.
In Week 2, Cutler helped the Dolphins win their first game against the Los Angeles Chargers and completed 24 of 33 passes for 230 yards and a touchdown. In Week 7, he suffered cracked ribs and missed the following game but returned in Week 9.
