Alexander manages the Soros Family Foundation and the Open Society Foundations, which together distribute approximately 1.5 billion dollars annually to support human rights and democratic governance. His philanthropic journey began with a significant donation to Bend the Arc in 2011.
In 2011, Soros joined the board of various organizations, including Global Witness, which focuses on combating environmental and human rights abuses related to natural resource exploitation. In March 2012, he donated $200,000 to the Jewish Council for Education and Research, known for its 2008 “Great Schlep” campaign supporting Barack Obama.
In 2012, Soros founded the Alexander Soros Foundation, which is dedicated to promoting social justice and human rights.
