Smriti Singh was recently in the news when she received her husband’s medal posthumously, who was serving in the Indian Army with the rank of Captain. In July 2023, Captain Anshuman Singh of the Indian Army showed great courage by saving people from a fire in Siachen. Sadly, he died from severe burns and injuries. President Droupadi Murmu awarded him the Kirti Chakra a year later for his bravery. Smriti also shared her experience on the tragic death of her husband
“For the first 7-8 hours, we could not accept that anything of that sort has happened. To date, I am not coping. Just trying to figure it out thinking maybe it is not true. But now that I have the Kirti Chakra, I realize it is true. But it’s okay, he is a hero. We can manage a little of our lives because he has managed a lot. He gave up his life and family so that the other three army families could be saved.” 1hindustantimes

Smriti Singh Husband
After five years of relationship, Smriti Singh was married to Captain Anshuman Singh in February 2023. She also shared her feelings with some media persons recently:
“We met on the first day of our college. I would not be dramatic, but it was love at first sight. After a month, he was selected into the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC). We met in an engineering college, and he got selected into a medical college, super intelligent guy. After just one month of meeting, it was a long-distance relationship for eight long years and then we thought we should get married now so we did.”
“Unfortunately, within two months of marriage, he got posted to Siachen. On July 18, we had a long conversation about how our life will be in the next 50 years — we are going to build a house, we are going to have kids, whatnot. On the 19th morning, I get up, I get a call that he is no more.”
He was very much capable. He would tell me, ‘I would die with a brass on my chest. I would not die an ordinary death like no one would know. 2economictimes
