Shivam started playing cricket for Mumbai in different types of matches. His first game was in a short format called Twenty20 in January 2016. Then he played in List A matches in February 2017. After that, he played in a longer format called first-class cricket in December 2017.
In his first game, he took five wickets in one match. Later, he even scored 100 runs in a match. He played well in various matches hit many sixes and took many wickets.
In 2018, Shivam was picked by different teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL), a big cricket tournament. First, he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, then for Rajasthan Royals, and then for Chennai Super Kings. He did great in the IPL and scored many runs.
