He has been identified as the person arrested for allegedly pointing an AK-47 at former President Donald Trump while he was golfing, according to law enforcement. Routh is known for supporting left-wing causes and sharing his “do-gooder” image on social media.

In a 2023 phone interview with The New York Times, Mr. Routh spoke confidently, like an experienced diplomat, believing his efforts to help Ukraine would succeed. However, he seemed to have little tolerance for opposition. When an American foreign fighter spoke to him in a Facebook message he shared with the Times, Mr. Routh said, “he needs to be shot.” 1nytimes

Ryan Wesley Routh Criminal History

Ryan Routh previously lived in Greensboro before moving to Hawaii in May. Neighbors confirmed the family’s recent move. While voter records show he was unaffiliated, he did vote in the Democratic primary in Guilford County.

Routh’s social media posts suggest he believed in COVID-19 conspiracy theories. He claimed to have voted for Trump in 2016 but later became disappointed and voiced support for Tulsi Gabbard.

The North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections has records on Routh dating back to 2002 when he barricaded himself inside a Greensboro business with a gun. In 2003, he was sentenced for driving without a license, carrying a concealed weapon, and hit-and-run, and in 2010, he was convicted of possessing stolen goods.
