Chad Daybell is an American personality who is accused of first-degree murder in the deaths of his first wife, Tamara “Tammy” Douglas Daybell, and the children of his second wife, Lori Vallow Daybell. He has pleaded not guilty. He was moved to the Ada County Jail before his trial in April 2024.

The remains of Tylee Ryan and JJ Vallow were discovered on Chad Daybell’s property on June 9, 2020. He was arrested that day, initially charged with conspiracy to commit murder, with first-degree murder charges added later.

Where is Chad now?

Vallow was arrested in Hawaii in February 2020, five months after her children disappeared. She was charged with child abandonment and obstructing the investigation and was later extradited to Idaho. After failing to show proof of life for her children, she was taken into custody. Vallow’s adult son, Colby, criticized her for not revealing his siblings’ whereabouts. Both Daybell and Vallow are believed to be part of a doomsday cult.

Vallow’s trial began in April 2023 after several delays, and she was convicted of all charges five weeks later. In July, she was sentenced to life in prison. On January 12, 2024, Daybell’s lawyer, John Prior, filed a petition to withdraw from the case, citing its complexity and Daybell’s inability to pay.

Daybell remained in Fremont County Jail until March 21, 2024, when he was transferred to Ada County Jail for his trial, which began on April 1. On May 30, he was found guilty of three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Tammy Daybell and Lori Vallow’s children, Joshua and Tylee. 1the-sun

Chad Daybell’s Death Sentence

Chad’s trial, including jury selection and deliberations, could take up to ten weeks, and he could face the death penalty if convicted. His attorney, John Prior, requested a change of venue, and the Idaho Judge moved the trial to Ada County from Fremont County.

If Chad is found guilty, jurors will first consider whether any annoying factors apply, such as committing another murder at the same time, that shows utter disregard for human life, murdering another serious crime, or the murder being exceptionally heinous or cruel.

If no aggravating factors are found, the Judge will sentence Chad to 10 years to life in prison. If aggravating factors are present, the jury will force them against any mitigating evidence. If aggravating factors are not there, the jury will decide between life in prison or the death penalty. If mitigating factors outweigh, Chad will receive a fixed life sentence. 6allthatsinteresting
