In 2012, Donna Vekić played for the Croatian Fed Cup team, helping them win against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Then, she reached her first WTA Tour final at the Tashkent Open and became the youngest player in six years to make it that far.
In 2013, Vekić made it into the main draw of the Australian Open and won her first match but lost in the second round to Caroline Wozniacki.
