Arjun Babuta is an Indian sports shooter who competes in the 10-meter air rifle events and has been a part of the Indian national shooting team since 2017. Indian shooter Arjun Babuta finished fourth in the men’s 10m air rifle event at his first Olympics on Monday, just missing out on a medal. He scored 208.4 points, with a crucial 9.5 shot compared to Croatia’s Miran Maricic’s 10.7, which ended his chances for a podium finish.

Arjun Babuta was born on 24 January 1999 in Jalalabad, Fazilka, Punjab, India, and is 25 years old as of 2024. He is an Indian sports personality who follows the Hindu faith. His height is 5′ 7″ inches. ¹

Arjun pursued a career in shooting after obtaining his undergraduate degree from DAV College, Chandigarh. He did his Master of Arts in mass communication and journalism at the Lovely Professional University.

Arjun Babuta Career Journey

Arjun achieved significant success in the 10m air rifle event at the 2016 ISSF Junior World Cup in Gabala and secured one gold medal and one bronze medal. In 2017, he earned a silver medal at the 10th Asian Airgun Championship in Wako City, Japan. He won a silver medal at the 27th Meeting of Shooting Hopes international junior competition in Plzen, Czech Republic. In the 2018 ISSF Junior World Cup in Sydney, he added a bronze medal to his accolades.

From 2018 to 2020, Babuta faced a career-threatening back problem that kept him out of competition. However, he made a strong comeback in 2022, winning gold medals in both the individual and team events at the ISSF World Cup in Changwon.

In the 2023 Asian Shooting Championships, Babuta won a silver medal in the 10m air rifle event, securing a quota place for India in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. He also claimed gold in the team event alongside Divyansh Singh Panwar and Hriday Hazarika.

During the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Babuta and Ramita Jindal finished sixth in the qualifying round of the 10m air rifle mixed team event, missing out on the medal rounds. Babuta advanced to the final of the men’s 10m air rifle event after placing seventh in the qualification round, ultimately finishing fourth in a closely contested final. ³
