His Career in the Indian Premier League
In December 2018, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) picked Ruturaj in the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League.
On October 2, 2021, Gaikwad scored his first century in the IPL, made 101 runs against the Rajasthan Royals. Then, on October 15, Chennai Super Kings won the finals against Kolkata Knight Riders by 27 runs, with Gaikwad scoring 32 runs off 27 balls. In 2021, Gaikwad started playing for India in both One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) matches against Sri Lanka. He debuted in T20I in July 2021. In the same year, he played in ODI matches against South Africa. In 2022, he scored his first half-century in T20I against South Africa and debuted in ODI against the same team.
In 2023, Ruturaj was chosen for Test and ODI matches against the West Indies. He was also made vice-captain for a series against Ireland, where he scored the most runs in the series. In September 2023, he achieved his first half-century in ODI cricket against Australia.
